Our Mission
CSCS Practice exists for a simple reason: every construction worker in the United Kingdom deserves access to quality test preparation materials, completely free of charge. We believe that the cost of formal revision courses should not be a barrier to passing the CSCS Health, Safety and Environment test and gaining site access.
The UK construction industry employs over 2.4 million workers, and the CSCS scheme covers the vast majority of them. Each year, hundreds of thousands of workers sit the HS&E test for the first time or as a renewal. While the test itself costs £22.50 — a modest fee — many commercial revision resources charge £20–50 for question banks that should be freely available to anyone willing to study.
We built CSCS Practice to provide comprehensive, accurate, and genuinely helpful practice questions that reflect the format, difficulty and content of the real CITB Health, Safety and Environment test.
What We Offer
Our website includes over 290 unique practice questions covering every major topic area of the CSCS test:

- Specialists Test — 50 questions covering specialist trades including demolition, highways, tunnelling and confined spaces
- Managers & Professionals Test — 50 questions on CDM 2015, risk management, legislation and site management
- General Health & Safety Quiz — 30 questions covering the breadth of construction health and safety

Every question includes a detailed explanation of the correct answer, helping you understand the underlying principle rather than simply memorising answers. Our questions are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current regulations, standards and best practice.
How Our Practice Tests Work
Each practice test on our site is designed to replicate the experience of the real CSCS test as closely as possible:
- Multiple-choice format with four answer options (A, B, C, D), matching the real test
- Randomised question order so you get a different experience each time you practise
- Immediate feedback after each question, showing whether you were correct and explaining why
- Progress tracking with a visual progress bar and question counter
- Timer to help you practise working within the 45-minute time limit
- Final score with pass/fail result based on the same pass marks used in the real test (90% for Operatives, 92% for MAP)
- Try Again button to re-take the test with freshly randomised questions
Our Content Standards
We take accuracy seriously. Every question on this website is:
- Based on current UK legislation and regulations — including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM 2015, Work at Height Regulations 2005, Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, PPE at Work Regulations 2022, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Aligned with CITB guidance on what the HS&E test covers
- Referenced to HSE (Health and Safety Executive) publications where appropriate
- Written in clear, accessible British English suitable for all reading levels
- Reviewed for accuracy before publication and updated when regulations change
Each quiz page also includes a substantial educational article (800+ words) that provides background context on the topic, helping you understand the subject matter in depth rather than just learning answers.

Stay Safe on Site
The CSCS test exists because health and safety knowledge saves lives. The UK construction industry has made enormous progress in reducing workplace fatalities and injuries over the past three decades, but there is still work to do. Every construction worker who understands safe working practices, recognises hazards, and knows their rights and responsibilities makes every site safer for everyone.
We are proud to play a small part in supporting that mission by making quality test preparation accessible to all.
